Last Call for Curley & Chris Show October 17/18, 2008

STILL TICKETS LEFT FOR CURLEY & CHRIS OCT 17/18 – STEVE STRONGMAN IN NOV

This is Last Call for CURLEY BRIDGES & THE CHRIS WHITELEY BAND playing BLUES ON THE RIDEAU at THE COVE INN, WESTPORT ON this coming Friday and Saturday nights, October 17 & 18. Either one of these artists is worth the price of admission on their own. It’s the opening Show of the 2008/09 Season and promises to be a very special one. There are still excellent seats available for both performances.

At age 74 CURLEY BRIDGES is one of the best boogie-woogie blues piano players from the old school still playing. His career goes back to the ’40’s and ’50’s when he backed blues legends like Billie Holiday and Frank Motley. Curley’s mastery of the keyboards is matched by a great baritone voice and a joyful, high energy delivery. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this man – we don’t know how many more chances we’ll get!

6X Juno Award nominee CHRIS WHITELEY is one of Canada’s most versatile blues musicians equally adept at songwriting, producing and playing – guitar, harmonica, trumpet and vocals. In a career spanning over 4 decades he has backed some of the best known artists in Canada and the U.S. as well as developing a strong solo and studio career. Most recently he paired up with beautiful vocalist Diana Braithwaite (Chris & Diana w. band played BOTR @ The Cove in March 2007 and gave a tremendous Show) producing two excellent albums in tribute to the Bluebird Records classics of the ’30’s and ’40’s – “Morning Sun” in 2007 and the just released “Night Bird Blues”. This is one of the last performances Chris will be doing before he and Diana leave for a lengthy tour of Europe, the U.K. and Russia.

They are backed by consummate, veteran musicians – Victor Bateman on bass with Bucky Berger on drums (Friday) and Bob Vespaziani (Saturday). Rumour has it that we may also have a Special Guest joining the band for a few numbers. Come and find out who!

Proceeds from the Shows go to help support Rideau Vista Elementary School (Friday) and St. Edward’s Elementary School (Saturday)

Tickets are only $55 pp (tax in) and include a delicious Cove Inn buffet dinner, dancing and a Show to remember. Call The Cove now to reserve (613) 273-3636 or 1-888-COVE-INN
