This weekend will include accommodation, home-cooked, healthy meals and all
activities, discussions and topics covered during the weekend. There will

The Westport Arts council invites you to ART BY THE LAKE WESTPORT:

When: 07-04-2015 10:00 AM – 04:00 PM

Where: Lion’s Club Beach

The show will feature artists from the Westport and the surrounding areas.

The festivities will begin Friday evening with an indoor Gallery and Meet the Artist show in the beach house by invitational only. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served while enjoying entertainment by local musicians.  We will also be featuring a silent art auction with the proceeds going to art in our local schools and “Art by the Lake; Westport”.

The event will continue on Saturday with each artist setting up their individual white tents and exhibiting a larger selection of their work on the beach grounds of Sand Lake.  Music will also be performed throughout the day by Westport area performing artists. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet and purchase art directly from the artists on Friday evening as well as throughout the day Saturday.

This show will truly be an event that highlights and accentuates the ARTS in WESTPORT and AREA.  The backdrop of Sand Lake will serve as a reminder of the splendour of nature found in our area.

Designed for families new to IAWAH, the Open House provides you with the opportunity to see our site, meet some of our staff and try out some summer activities–the day is free and includes a BBQ lunch. If this is your child’s first time at IAWAH be sure to attend!

Returning families are encouraged to bring a family new to IAWAH.

Songwriters' Circle 2015SONGWRITER’S CIRCLE feat. Chris Brown, Seamus Cowan, Tom Savage & Luther Wright

Should be more than once a year but these nights have really turned into something special. Chris and Luther have worked together for years now and Tom helped inspire Seamus back in the day. It’s all coming together now. 

CHRIS BROWN has produced a who’s who of Canadian talent and started with the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir and has been a part of Chris & Kate Fenner duo for a long time. 
SEAMUS COWAN is from Westport and his family run The Cove. His bands Bullmoose and Spoon River experienced considerable CanRock longevity and he has played with Spencer Evans and Jazz Night for close to two decades. Notably, he toured with The High Dials of Montreal for two years. 
TOM SAVAGE is a road warrior, songwriter a la Dylan-esque stories. Plays guitar with Hendrix poise and Neil intensity. His band Tom Savage Trio have toured Canada lots and the new Foley Mountain Playboys are his bluegrass gem.
LUTHER WRIGHT is a Canadian folk/bluegrass hero. His band Luther Wright & The Wrongs cross many boundaries, states and provinces. The recreated Floyd’s The Wall and have toured for about 2 decades now. The Hootenannys he does with Jenny Whiteley and others are legendary. 

Snuggle in for evening of orginal songs and creative renditions of classic beauties. Wha-La! Enjoy!

PITICCO FERGUSON MAYHEM BANDSTEVE PITICCO from Brighton, has toured and recorded with countless Top Canadian Country acts, who utilize him for his distinctive Fender Telecaster guitar sound. When it comes to playing a TELECASTER, he is in a class of his own. The mere mention of his name among industry peer’s bring comments like, “He’s from another planet!” or “It should be against the law to play like that!”.

He is a 4 time CCMA Guitar “Player of the Year”, 3 time CCMA “Overall Instrumentalist of the Year”, 5 time DCMA Gram award in Holland for the “International Instrumentalist Award” winning over many other Internationally acclaimed pickers.

Formerly from Nova Scotia, where he still has close ties, and once called “The Original Salt Cod Cowboy”, Kevin toured extensively throughout the Maritimes with bands, theatre troupes and as a solo performer/singer, songwriter.

He has performed in shows with Valdy, Charlie Major, The Rankins, Gowan, opened a cross-Canada tour for Chris DeBurgh, acted on stage with the late Denny Doherty, and over the years has had lovely musical contributions on his recordings from Ken Pearson (Janis Joplin, Bruce Cockburn), Willie P Bennett, and Kate McGarrigle.

Kevin’s most recent appearances include a mainstage appearance at the 2012 Blue Skies Festival in Clarendon, hosting the 2012 edition of Liner Notes Live Songwriter Circle, 2012 Limestone City Blues Festival, opening for Alex Cuba with the Bob Robertson Trio as part of the Limewire music series in 2011, and numerous solo appearances and performances with his duo “Head over Heels” in the Kingston, Gananoque and Westport areas.

He recently releases a new CD of LIVE material recorded October 2013 with his band and life/musical partner MISS V with whom he performs regularly here at The Cove!

He has released two critically acclaimed solo discs to date. A pro musician for over forty years, he occasionally works as a guest sideman, recording and touring with a myriad of top-notch bands.

The carnival will be spread out over three locations; theWestport Arena, Lockwood Memorial Field and The Cove from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Take part in community events like Tug-O-War, Nail Driving, Log Splitting, Food Stalls, Snowman Building, Petting Zoo.

Afterward enjoy live musical performances by Shawn McCulloch with Henry Norwood and Wade Foster at The Cove from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
