Westport Winter Carnival 2016

The Winter Carnival this year will be spread over 2 weekends.

The first weekend, Saturday Feb.6/2016 begins with the Westport Lions Club Pond Hockey
Tournament. It takes place on Sand Lake at The Lions Club beach if you are interested in participating
contact Bob Reddick at 273-3499.
There will be food and drink and lots of outdoor family fun

The second weekend, begins Friday Feb.12/2016, at The Westport Community Center with our own
Westport Jr. B Rideaus taking on The Brockville Tiki’s. The Theme is ” fill the rink”.
Before the Game, there will be a Special Presentation to FOTA from Aviva. $50,000 dollar Cheque.
In addition, FOTA will be honoring its many Supporters and Volunteers.
Watch for the Mayors Challenge……it should be a blast.

Saturday Feb. 13/2016, opens up with The 29th Annual Wolf Lake Howl Fishing Derby
Ontario Free Fishing Weekend…no license required for Ontario Residents.
Pike, Pickerel,Ling and Perch categories.
Cash and Draw Prizes.
Tickets available at: Norris Live Bait, Kudrinko’s , Bennett Bait and Tackle in Smith Falls and Wings Live Bait in Lynhurst
$15.00 Dollars per person, children under 12 free.
Final Weigh In will be at 3 PM on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday Feb. 14/2016, opens up with the Westport Arts Council’s Winter Games
This Event takes place at the Westport Community Center’s Parking Lot .
Begins at 11 am with Horse and Wagon rides around the streets of Westport. 16 to 18 people per ride, no charge, donation only.
Hot food and beverage will be available outside until 4pm, thanks to John Pringle and Cottage Coffee House.
Also at 11, Westwinds Farm will provide a Petting Zoo and Pony Rides for the Kids to enjoy.
The Winter Games will begin at 1pm. These games consist of: Crosscut Sawing, Nail Hammering,Fresh Egg Maraton and Tug of war.
The teams will see: Business vs Business, Service Club vs Service Club, Fire Dept. vs Fire Dept., Seniors vs Seniors and last but not least
Kids vs Kids.
This will be an exciting afternoon.
Plaques already hang at Town Hall for the winners of last years events and those same plaques will awarded to the winners of this years Events
Everyone is invited back to the Cove at 4 pm for free live entertainment. (Shawn and Henry)

Bring your Valentine to Westport’s own ” Sunday in the Country” with the one and only Jeff Code and his band Silver Wings.

Monday Feb.15/2016, this Event takes place at North Crosby’s Shlington Park. 1 until 4 pm.

The Voice of The Rideau July 25 2015

VOTR is back this summer and we’re eager to follow the music until the best amateur singer on the Rideau is crowned at the MUSICwestport open air music festival. Sing it. Win it. July 25, 2015

Singers will compete in age categories: Adult, Youth (13-18) or Child. Along with the title, winners will be awarded a trophy and cash prize. Auditions will take place 25 July 2015 at the North Crosby Community Centre beginning at 10am. Finals will take place during the MUSICwestport open air music festival on 15 August 2015 in front of the live festival audience.

18 local and regional artists will be at Sand Lake Beach at the Lions Club in Westport on July 4th from 10am to 4pm.

7th Annual MUSICwestport Festival

MUSICwestport kicks off the party with Zal Sissokho (West African music from Montreal) on Friday August 16, 2013 from 8-11pm at the Cove. Cost is $10/person and 100% proceeds go to the Westport Arts Council. A master of the Kora, a 21 stringed harp instrument native to West Africa built from half of a large gourd covered by a cow skin, Zal plays this dreamy instrument while singing his gorgeous songs ranging in dynamic from energetic high life dance music to meditative ballads!

5th annual MUSICwestport

The Westport Arts Council Presents the 5th Annual Music Festival in Westport Ontario. This year’s festival will be held Saturday August 13, 2011.

With three outdoor stages a The Cove, SOHO’s, and A Victorian Reflection you can enjoy a day full of music with some of the area’s most exciting talent.

Free Adminssion. Make sure you bring and chair and be prepared for rain or shine. If you wish to see “Miss Emily” at the Cove after-hours the cover is $5.00 and starts at 8pm.

Westport Music Festival

Annual Kitchen Party at the Westport Legion

The Kitchen Party Westport OntarioThe Annual Kitchen Party features non-stop Live(ly), Toe-Tapping Music. Featuring Brock Zeman, Shawn McCulloch, Tom Savage, Brad Milner, Mike Cochrane, Gerald Van Halteren, and Jeff & Seamus Cowan.

This event will be taking place at the Westport Legion from 2-7pm on April 2nd, 2011. A “kitchen party” is a time-honored way for families, friends (old and new) and neighbours to enjoy each other’s company by sharing music, dance, stories and food, in part as a way to kick start spring and the arrival of sunnier days.

The Legion’s cash bar will be open during the day. A traditional meal of homemade Irish stew, bread and biscuits, a selection of deserts, and tea and coffee will be available from the kitchen later in the afternoon for just $7. Tickets are only $10 per person, and are available in Westport at The Cove Country Inn (2 Bedford Street) (613-273-3636) and at the door of the Westport Legion on County Road 10.
