KENNY “BLUES BOSS” WAYNE
www.kennybluesboss.com
Born in Spokane, Washington and raised in San Francisco, New Orleans and L.A. before moving to Vancouver in the 1980’s Kenny got introduced to Blues & Jazz piano through his mother’s record collection of records by artists like Nat King Cole, Fats Domino and Amos Milburn. His father was a preacher so he also got a good upbringing with Gospel. At age 8 he was already a child prodigy and by his early teens he was playing Boogie-Woogie piano in Blues clubs with artists like Jimmy Reed. He took an almost 20 year hiatus from performing after that but resumed playing when he moved to Vancouver where he soon became one of the hottest keyboardists on the West Coast. Kenny has earned 3 Juno nominations for his albums on Electro-Fi Records – and won one – for “Let It Loose” in 2005. After that he joined the Stony Plain label and has cut several great albums with them as well. Over the years Kenny has also been nominated for an American Blues Music Award and multiple Maple Blues Awards in the categories of Entertainer, Producer, Recording and Keyboardist of the Year – he’s won the latter Award 5 times since 2002. Kenny is one of the headliners at the SOUTHSIDE SHUFFLE in Port Credit ON this weekend www.southsideshuffle.com and I’m looking forward to seeing him again.
