Registration for Rideau Lakes Day Camp opens. The deadline for registration is June 17, 2016.
Held at Sand Lake in Elgin (345 DeLong Road off Davis Lock Road) from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday, beginning July 4 and running to August 26 this Day Camp Program offers a variety of enjoyable activities for children 4 to 12 years of age. Crafts, sports, games, swimming lessons and free swim, canoeing, drama, special guests and trips make the summer a fun and wonderful time for all the children involved. It is a nature oriented camp. No electronic devices are permitted.
The camp offers minimal indoor activities as well as a host of outdoor events. Staff is well trained and show exceptional enthusiasm and commitment toward your child’s summer experience. We are proud of the young people chosen to work at the Rideau Lakes Day Camp.
2016 Day Camp Registration Fees:
1 – 2 children per family: $94/week/child
After paying full price for the first 2 weeks, 3+ weeks $90/week/child*
Sign up for the full summer cost is $713/child
3 or more children from the same family:
First 2 children pay full price, third child pays $90/week
Fourth & more children attend free
After paying full price for the first 2 weeks, 3+ weeks first 2 children pay $90/week/child and the third child pays $85/week*
Fourth & more children attend free
Sign up for the full summer, 3 or more children cost is $2104.
*August 4 – 7 (4 day week) 1 and/or 2 children $75/week; 3rd child $73/week; 4 or more children free.
Add $3.50 per child per day if riding the bus – payable at time of registration.
Swimming lessons are included in the registration fees.

Painting with Picasso
Ages 6-12
Picasso said it took him a lifetime to relearn how to paint like a child.
Children have a fearless knack for experimenting with colour and form. This course will allow you to explore the full range of their ideas. With a different lesson and theme each day: still life, portrait, landscape, you will create fun and funky masterpieces to hang on your walls!
DAY 1: Still life with Picasso and Matisse.
Students will be introduced to mixed-media through the eyes of Picasso and Matisse. acrylic paint and collage to create a one of a kind mixed-media painting using bowls, flowers, fruit as their subject matter.
DAY 2: Funky Pet and People Portraits
After a brief art history and drawing lesson, students will capture the mood and personality of their pet or favorite person in paint. Go home with a funky portrait!
The Instructor
Margaret Stuart has been playing with paint, colour and texture for the past 24 years. She studied Fine Arts at Bishop’s University, at the Saidye Bronfman Centre in Montreal and at the Haliburton School of Art. Her mixed-media paintings have won awards.
An Ontario Certified Teacher, Margaret creates an environment where children and adults feel comfortable exploring creativity and colour. Painting is where ‘mistakes’ are encouraged because they often turn into masterpieces! Embrace your inner artist!
She lives and paints in the Ottawa Valley with her daughter, 6 quails, 5 chickens and cat Gwin where she teaches primary school nearby.
