The Westport Film Society is proud to screen Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights. Named the greatest romantic comedy of all time but the American Film Institute, the 1931 classic inaugurated a fundamental shift in both the film industry and the artistic focus of Chaplin’s following work. Prior to the screening, we will learn a bit about why the film is universally acclaimed as one of the greats. Join us as we grow in our understanding and appreciated of this beautiful art form!

With 2 stages, 8 bands, the popular VOICE of the Rideau singing contest finale and the Spring Street Festival, WAC promises a full day and full range of music and entertainment for all ages.

Driftwood Theatre presentations come to Lockwood Park August 6, 2015 at 730 pm. Hamlet by William Shakespeare like you’ve never seen it before. Pay as you can admission. Bring your chair or blanket. Corn and hotdogs and cold drinks before the play by St Pauls/St Marys Anglican Church.

Seating is first-come first served in the Pay-What-You-Can Section of the lawn. BACK UP LOCATION: Westport Arena & Community Centre (on site). In the event of rain or inclement weather, updates will be posted on Driftwood Theatre’s Home Page and on Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Lockwood Memorial Field is located at 31 Spring Street, Westport. Located in the heart of the Village, Lockwood is equipped with a baseball diamond, basketball/tennis court, shuffleboard court and seasonal washrooms.

VOTR is back this summer and we’re eager to follow the music until the best amateur singer on the Rideau is crowned at the MUSICwestport open air music festival. Sing it. Win it. July 25, 2015

Singers will compete in age categories: Adult, Youth (13-18) or Child. Along with the title, winners will be awarded a trophy and cash prize. Auditions will take place 25 July 2015 at the North Crosby Community Centre beginning at 10am. Finals will take place during the MUSICwestport open air music festival on 15 August 2015 in front of the live festival audience.

Stories and Songs at the Spring is a fun filled free hour of entertainment for the whole family. Four selected Sunday evenings this summer.

Come bring your lawn chair (some seating available), a coffee or ice cream and join us at the Harbour Front Spring! In case of rain the venue will be moved indoors to the United Church.

Event takes place July 12, 2015 with Ross + Joanne Lambert. Starts at 7pm, don’t miss it!

18 local and regional artists will be at Sand Lake Beach at the Lions Club in Westport on July 4th from 10am to 4pm.

The Westport Arts council invites you to ART BY THE LAKE WESTPORT:

When: 07-04-2015 10:00 AM – 04:00 PM

Where: Lion’s Club Beach

The show will feature artists from the Westport and the surrounding areas.

The festivities will begin Friday evening with an indoor Gallery and Meet the Artist show in the beach house by invitational only. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served while enjoying entertainment by local musicians.  We will also be featuring a silent art auction with the proceeds going to art in our local schools and “Art by the Lake; Westport”.

The event will continue on Saturday with each artist setting up their individual white tents and exhibiting a larger selection of their work on the beach grounds of Sand Lake.  Music will also be performed throughout the day by Westport area performing artists. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet and purchase art directly from the artists on Friday evening as well as throughout the day Saturday.

This show will truly be an event that highlights and accentuates the ARTS in WESTPORT and AREA.  The backdrop of Sand Lake will serve as a reminder of the splendour of nature found in our area.
