King of the Swingers has energized festivals, fairgrounds, street concerts, and parties with their upbeat, energized, (kinda twisted) approach to Dixie music for more than twenty years. With locals Steve Clarke, Marty Crapper, Stu Pike and Dawson Willsey, they’re ready to take you on a little trip down nostalgia lane. Crowds can be seen singing and tapping along as they relive songs of their respective pasts. From their humble beginnings as Westport’s Official Busking Band, Steevo, Dawg-son, Spiker, and M.C. Rapper laugh and shout their way through such classic Dixie songs as Obladi Oblada, Jocky Full of Bourbon, and Ain’t She Sweet.

King of the Swingers hold the all-time record for most performances by a single group at the Stewart Park Festival, Perth with more than twenty performances over 15 years. Audience reaction is unanimous…..BRING THEM BACK, so we are bringing them back, here, to The Cove!

Always true to their roots, King of the Swingers love to wander the streets playing fun tunes for the kiddies and the Grannies. They have been a mainstay on the streets of the annual MUSICwestport festival as well! One day they hope to make enough cash to afford a place to stay. In the meantime, come out and celebrate on the street with Mowgli, Baloo, and King Louie, to dance and sing with King of the Swingers!

After living in the USA for decades, Tom Green recently relocated to Canada, where he starred in Amazon Prime’s “LOL: Last One Laughing Canada.” He cracked up many of Canada’s funniest comedians, including K. Trevor Wilson, Dave Foley, Colin Mochrie and special guest P.K. Subban.

Tom’s program “The Tom Green Show,” which began on Ottawa cable TV and moved to MTV, influenced the rise of shock comedy shows like “Jackass.”

Tom’s appeared in several films, including “Charlie’s Angels,” “Road Trip,” “Stealing Harvard,” “Shred” and “Freddy Got Fingered,” which he wrote and directed.

Tom’s TV appearances include hosting “Saturday Night Live.” He is among the few comedians to guest-host for David Letterman on “Late Show with David Letterman.”

The eccentric, funny man was also a contestant on “Celebrity Big Brother,” in which, despite being Canadian, he was voted America’s favourite house guest. He competed on “The Celebrity Apprentice” with former U.S. president Donald Trump.

In 2006 Green, a pioneer in independent web-casting, was producing a talk show from his Los Angeles home. Fellow comedian Joe Rogan named Green’s show as an influence on his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Numerous podcasters and other online content creators have cited Green as a pioneer in the medium.

Tom’s battle with testicular cancer was chronicled in the short film “The “Tom Green Cancer Special.” The topic was also covered in his 2004 autobiography “Hollywood Causes Cancer: The Tom Green Story.”

HEAD OVER HEELS (Gananaoque, (Vocal/Guitar Duo) Kingston’s Kevin Head is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musical director and actor. Formerly from Nova Scotia, where he still has close ties, and once called “The Original Salt Cod Cowboy”, Kevin toured extensively throughout the Maritimes with bands, theatre troupes and as a solo performer/singer, songwriter.

He has performed in shows with Valdy, Charlie Major, The Rankins, Gowan, opened a cross-Canada tour for Chris DeBurgh, acted on stage with the late Denny Doherty, and over the years has had lovely musical contributions on his recordings from Ken Pearson (Janis Joplin, Bruce Cockburn), Willie P Bennett, and Kate McGarrigle. Kevin’s most recent appearances include a mainstage appearance at the 2012 Blue Skies Festival in Clarendon, hosting the 2012 edition of Liner Notes Live Songwriter Circle, 2012 Limestone City Blues Festival, opening for Alex Cuba with the Bob Robertson Trio as part of the Limewire music series in 2011, and numerous solo appearances and performances with his duo “Head over Heels” in the Kingston, Gananoque and Westport areas.

He released a new CD of LIVE material recorded October 2013 with his band and life/musical partner MISS V with whom he performs regularly here at The Cove!

Shawn McCullough is a Master guitar player/singer/alternative lyricist/showman/songwriter. He has played and toured with Canadian Country star Jason McCoy (The Roadhammers) and has been a part of Telecaster supergroup The Telebastards featuring Steve Piticco, Country Pickin’ Mayhem Band with 2 x 7 time CCMA Guitarists of the Year, Wendell Ferguson and Steve Piticco, as well as a member of DoubleBack with Wade Foster and John Wilberforce. He is highly in demand as a session musician and sideman for his incredible skill, wit and stage presence. He has a solo record to his name “This is Me” and is currently performing with rising CMAO and CCMA nominated Country star Brea Lawrenson!  His latest accomplishments are a series of singles released on Apple Music and Spotify getting lots of airplay on Country Music Radio. SPENCER EVANS was born in Picton, grew up around the Quinte area, and graduated from B.C.I. Spencer plays piano, clarinet, accordion, sings, dances, prances and has been a professional musician for the past 15 years. He has played Bermuda to Bosnia, New Orleans to the North Pole, and has recorded and toured with The Cowboy Junkies, Sarah Harmer and Pat Temple, and has performed with Jeff Healey, Dan Aykroyd, Willie P. Bennett, Jack Mahieu, Alex Pangman, Maria Muldaur, and Toronto’s Swing Gang, among countless others. Spencer has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CBC Radio’s The Vinyl Café with Stuart McLean, MUCHmusic and CMT. A resident of Kingston for several years, Spencer keeps busy playing with numerous local bands such as Bloom, Pico de Gallo, Ghetto Xpress, The River Cats and various jazzy combos.

This is our first venture into one of Eastern Ontario’s best live music rooms. Hoping our regulars come on out for some dinner and dancing. Its going to be a great night!

While this group of musicians have been friends a long time it was only the summer of 2017 that the idea to play together was born. After a total of two rehearsals we hit the stage for our first gig and it was obvious that we were onto something. Four distinct voices all capable of singing the lead, blended together for some sweet sounds. The set list came together quickly and is evolving constantly.

After a massively popular night in August, we knew we had to have them back but things have been tricky in doing so! Here are in 2020, the return of the Honky Tonk!

Halfcocked and Lonesome…We started in 2015 when Andrew bought a pedal steel guitar and found that a local Ottawa bar wanted a honky tonk house band. So we pulled together some country loving friends and started a band. A few friends have come and gone from the band but we’ve kept the tunes rolling. We’ll always play some golden classics and a few new country tunes, but focus on what XM Satellite Radio calls “Prime Country”. The epic era from the late 80’s to early 2000’s of George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, John Michael Montgomery, etc. These artists put honky tonk back into country music in a way not heard since the Bakersfield days of the 60’s or the Outlaws of the 70’s. It’s when cowboy hats, pedal steel guitars, and swinging shuffles became cool again. So expect raw, twangy honky tonk that you can dance to or just tap your feet and drink to. Your call.
