Join Intuitive Eating!

Peut être une image de texte

Interested in gaining greater body appreciation? Want to “discover the satisfaction factor”? Join us at Intuitive Eating! Click on this link to read the definition of Intuitive Eating and more info on the 10 principles:

Intuitive Eating is a self-care eating framework, which integrates instinct, emotion, and rational thought and was created by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995. Intuitive Eating is a weight-inclusive, evidence-based model with a validated assessment scale and over 100 studies to date.

It’s a personal and dynamic process, which includes 10 principles:

  1. Reject the Diet Mentality
  2. Honor Your Hunger
  3. Make Peace with Food
  4. Challenge the Food Police
  5. Respect Your Fullness
  6. Discover the Satisfaction Factor
  7. Honor Your Feelings without Using Food
  8. Respect Your Body
  9. Exercise—Feel the Difference
  10. Honor Your Health with Gentle Nutrition

Read more about the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating.

The principles work in two key ways:

  1. By helping you cultivate attunement to the physical sensations that arise from within your body to get both your biological and psychological needs met and
  2. Removing the obstacles and disruptors to attunement, which usually come from the mind in the form of rules, beliefs, and thoughts.

The process of Intuitive Eating is a practice, which honors both physical and mental health. Intuitive Eating is aligned with Health at Every Size, because the pursuit of intentional weight loss is a failed paradigm, which creates health problems: including weight stigma, weight cycling, and eating disorders. All bodies deserve dignity and respect.

What’s Cooking in Westport!

1- What's cooking

Join us to find out What’s Cooking! We test out new recipes together. Maybe try foods we’ve never tasted before. We make nutritious and delicious dishes from around the world, focusing on local, seasonal and budget-friendly foods, including those found in the Good Food Box, with the occasional exotic ingredient mixed in to spice things up! While we’re having fun in the kitchen, playing with our food, we’ll be sharing our cooking skills with each other and learning reliable nutrition and food safety tips from our Dietitian, Kate. Whether you’re looking to make new friends or to enjoy a free meal (and maybe even take home a doggy bag too), What’s Cooking is the place for you!

No skills required. We can show you how to boil water! There is no cost to participate. What’s Cooking is offered from 10am – 1pm at Country Roads Community Health Centre in Portland on the 1st Tuesday of the month.
