Free Planned Giving Workshop & Coffee Hour

FREE Planned Giving Workshop & Coffee Hour - Westport, 22 August | Event in Westport | AllEvents.in

Join estate planners & financial experts to discuss the tax benefits of leaving a financial or land donation in your will.

Estate planning can be difficult, but leaving a charitable gift in your will means you can rest easy knowing your loved ones will receive generous tax benefits as you leave a lasting legacy.

To help you maximize these benefits, the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation (RVCF) has teamed up with IG Wealth Management and Kelly Santini LLP partner Zach Gaulin to host a free planned giving workshop and coffee hour. Experts from both firms will explore how financial and in-kind donations can effect your estate taxes, and walk you through various planned giving options, legal considerations and more. You’ll also hear from RVCF about its role as a local environmental charity and land trust, and how its unique land donation program can help you protect your natural property in perpetuity, at no cost to your estate.

Bring a friend for coffee, treats and an engaging presentation!

No Principals feat.Dave Balfour + Jamie Campbell

Join us for live music with “No Principals” featuring Dave Balfour & Jamie Campbell.

Dave Balfour is a real and vivacious musical personality! He reels you in! He has been the MC of Stewart Park Festival in Perth for 18 years and hosted the Wednesday night jam at O’Reillys in Perth for over 10 years, bringing in a mix of young and old local talent each week. Each week Dave and guests would play a for a few hours of acoustic magic and mayhem with weekly new material keeping musicians on their toes. This larger than life man, with a sweet soft voice will have you tapping and humming along to your favorite tunes from the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Little Feat, U2 and The Beatles. He has played with Dog Day Afternoon (with Jamie), Guthrie House, Bald Like Dad and more.

Jamie Campbell has quite a prolific past in the music business as well. He is a member of Fireweed with Gary William Rasberry & Rob Unger. Voiceplay, guitarwork and a mutual love of all things acoustic fire the songs that we write and perform. Fireweed’s reputation for heartfelt, intimate live shows is wide-spread and well-known. They’ve performed at Blues Skies Music Festival, Summerfolk, Stewart Park Music Festival, the Ottawa Folk Festival, Mariposa, Hillside Music Festival, Skeleton Park Music Festival and the Amherst Island Folk Festival. He was also a member of acclaimed Quebecois performer Roch Voisine’s touring band! A high accomplishment for sure. Most recently, he has been playing the co-lead with Miss Emily Fennell and Doug Reansbury is a sensational tribute to the music of Carole King and James Taylor called You’ve Got a Friend featuring the best in Kingston’s musical veterans in Zak Colbert on bass, Ken Hall on keyboards, Duncan Holt on drums and James Wannamaker on sax.

Together, Dave and Jamie share a love of a well crafted song and strong harmonies.  Together they play with the band Dog Day afternoon. They will be performing a trio acoustic show featuring Joe Skuce on drums. Both Dave and Jamie are elementary Principals in our area but fear not, no detentions will be given.

King of the Swingers at the Cove

King of the Swingers has energized festivals, fairgrounds, street concerts, and parties with their upbeat, energized, (kinda twisted) approach to Dixie music for more than twenty years. With locals Steve Clarke, Marty Crapper, Stu Pike and Dawson Willsey, they’re ready to take you on a little trip down nostalgia lane. Crowds can be seen singing and tapping along as they relive songs of their respective pasts. From their humble beginnings as Westport’s Official Busking Band, Steevo, Dawg-son, Spiker, and M.C. Rapper laugh and shout their way through such classic Dixie songs as Obladi Oblada, Jocky Full of Bourbon, and Ain’t She Sweet.

King of the Swingers hold the all-time record for most performances by a single group at the Stewart Park Festival, Perth with more than twenty performances over 15 years. Audience reaction is unanimous…..BRING THEM BACK, so we are bringing them back, here, to The Cove!

Always true to their roots, King of the Swingers love to wander the streets playing fun tunes for the kiddies and the Grannies. They have been a mainstay on the streets of the annual MUSICwestport festival as well! One day they hope to make enough cash to afford a place to stay. In the meantime, come out and celebrate on the street with Mowgli, Baloo, and King Louie, to dance and sing with King of the Swingers!
