Music in the Park

ID-1007393On Saturday, June 28 come and celebrate Music in the Park in Portland. HANNA PARK in PORTLAND will host “Music in the Park” from 7:30 to 9:00pm prior to the fireworks at Cow Island. Enjoy a fantastic live concert with your friends and family. Then stay and watch the fireworks explode overhead as evening falls.

All festivities are sponsored by the Portland Community Hall Board. 

National Aboriginal Day

ID-10094691This Saturday June 21 join us as we celebrate National Aboriginal day. Canada’s National Aboriginal Day is annually held on June 21 to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of the nation’s Aboriginal peoples. There are three Aboriginal groups in Canada – the First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Celebrate a piece of Canadian Heritage by learning more about the aboriginal peoples in your area.

Canada Day in Westport

ID-10074641This year Canada Day falls on a Tuesday, so come to the village of Westport for a small town style celebration of our nation. The Canada Day celebrations in Westport this year are going to be amazing! Don’t miss out on any of the activities we’ve got planned for you!

The Bike Parade begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Rideau District Museum followed by a Canadian Celebration, music, children’s activities and the Grande Finale Fireworks at the Westport Lion’s Beach Club.

 

Old Stone Mill

The Old Stone MillCome out to the Old Stone Mill in Delta to see how flour was made at the turn of the century, you can also buy the Red Fife Wheat that will be milled on site this Saturday, June 14. The mill wheel will start turning at 1 pm. Come out and see how how flour used to be made.

Tour the mill and enjoy the local treats and sights as you spend time with us at the Old stone Mill here in beautiful Delta Ontario.

Art on the Porch at The Green Gecko

Collage Creation with Carol Lee Riley

Immerse yourself into the world of intuitive art through a free form combination of collage & assemblage. Explore the possibilities when materials collide – fabric, paper, paint, wood, metal, found objects and more. Use them with wild abandon to embrace your inner artist. There will be plenty of materials and tools available. Bring a few of your favourite materials if you wish to. Inspiration, techniques, design and use of tools will be explored. All levels welcome.

Breakfast No-Bake Pies with Lynn Daniluk

Come and enjoy an afternoon of healthy baking!! In this workshop you willhave the opportunity to learn to make 3 of the desserts from Julie Daniluk’s “Anti-Inflammatory Live-it”. The pleasure of painting outdoors will reward you with increased observation skills, improved colour identification and mixing, quick decision making, and provide you with lots of fresh air! Using traditional and time-saving techniques, Nicole will provide group instruction and one on one coaching. Using only oil colours (pigment & linseed oil) remains the best option for painting in various weather conditions, and is the most eco-friendly option for self and nature. Valuable information to prepare you for the elements when painting outdoors is also provided. When prepared, the challenge is easy and fun!

Learn to Dance! with Motus O Dance Theatre

Music by the Pond

This summer the Centre for Creative Learning is presenting Music by the Pond, a series of sunning musical and dance performances by renowned Canadian and international artists, including students from The Royal Conservatory of Music.

All performances take place at the Stepping Stones Garden and Ponds, a beautiful setting for some of the summer’s most inspiring concert and dance series. Buy your tickets ahead of time and enjoy a special rate: Students-$10, Adults-$15, and Family-$25. Tickets available at the door for: Students-$15, Adults-$20, and Families-$30.

King of the Swingers

CCLCirrcus Terrifico by Motus O Dance Theatre

The whole family will enjoy the hilarious show by the nationally recognized Motus O. Cirrus Terrifico, a comedy about three circus performers boarding the train to their next show. However, a case of vanishing tickets thwarts their plans and strands them on the platform. It takes every trick in the book (and their suitcases!) to create an impromptu show to raise money for new tickets. This is a hilariously energetic micro-version interpretations of the ballets, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Bring the family! Light refreshments are included with ticket prices.
